Glastonbury Festival-goers will be able to visit a pop-up library on the site this year, as Somerset Council's library service staff will be there, offering a range of activities for all ages each day.

The library service won a prestigious innovation award from Libraries Connected for promoting the value of library services when staff attended last year's festival, and this year's library tent is set to be even bigger and better.

Cllr Federica Smith-Roberts, Lead Member for Communities, said: "Somerset Council is delighted to once again have a presence at Glastonbury Festival so we can showcase our many services to festival-goers and provide a welcome space for people to have some time out or entertain little ones.

"We will also be encouraging local people to join their local library, if they are not already members, and we are acting as ambassadors for library services across the country by reminding people of the benefits of making use of their local library services, including books, online resources, events, activities and a huge range of other resources."

The pop-up library will be welcoming visitors from 8.30am – 5.30pm and it will be located opposite the new Woodsies (formerly John Peel) stage and nature area.

Some of the free activities planned each day include:

•        Morning and afternoon rhyme time and storytime for younger visitors

•        Daily crafts

•        Relax and chill out area – just chill and read a book.

•        3D printer in action – the chance to find out more about the world of 3D printing.

•        Join the library at the festival

•        Daily afternoon " What do libraries really do " talk.

•        Share families' library stories

•        Plus daily surprise activities which will be notified on the daily A frame board and on social media.
