Mainly as a precaution, but Somerset Highways have just announced that tonight (November 4) the gritting fleet will be out for the first time.

They have posted that they will be on their first run of the year and they are out in most areas, including Exmoor & Quantocks, the Levels & Central and Mendips & Eastern.

The full details of where and when Somerset will be gritting can be found by clicking HERE : which includes their rules on which key routes will be gritted first and why.

The weather forecast for in and around Frome is expected to hover around zero tonight, then it will warm up for the rest of the week.
