Starting a business in May 2020 - the Frome cycling enthusiast

Starting a business at any time is a big challenge, but this Frome enthusiast has just started his company in response to huge demand for bike repairs.

Justin Hoy started his company on May 13 and has already got a busy order book.

Justin, who had many years experience in the cycle industry, was himself a keen rider, both racing and for pleasure.

He noticed lots of people wanting help with bike repairs posting on social media and so Hoy's Bike Repairs was created.

He has already fixed over 20 bikes and has a special offer - half price repairs for NHS staff - already taken up by three key workers. He also has a few bikes for sale, although he is now focusing on repairs.

It certainly seems a boom time for bikes.

According to The Guardian newspaper, Brompton, the UK's largest bike manufacturer, which produces almost 50,000 folding cycles a year, has seen a fivefold increase in online sales since April. While up to 20,000 bicycles which have already been sold are awaiting delivery and building, according to the Association of Cycle Traders,
