The ninth Frome Half Marathon is fast approaching, but there is still time to enter the race.
Taking place at 10am on Sunday July 21, the event will see more than 1,000 runners on the town's streets, in the main half marathon plus the 10k, 5k and family fun run races.
For the half marathon, a single 13.1 mile loop takes runners from Frome Town Football Club through two residential areas, before they head up through the town centre.
As the competitors pass through the Critchill residential area, they will experience its renowned hosepipe-wielding, jelly-baby-offering and impromptu-water-station-manning residents.
Countryside lanes offer tranquil scenes as the race heads out to Nunney village, and as the runners head back into Frome town centre, the legendary Egford Hill one-kilometre steady climb brings them to the highest point of the route - dig in, entrants' climb time is recorded separately within their result with prizes awarded for the fastest climbers in every age category.
From the top of the hill, the route sweeps downhill through the heart of Frome, carrying the runners through to the football club finish line.
There will be various road closures in place for the event, but the organisers say they always try to keep disruption to a minimum.
