Frome's Walking Festival is back for 2020; it's on a slightly smaller and more socially distanced scale, but there is still plenty to do for all ages, interests and abilities.

Taking place on the weekend of Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th November, the Frome's Walkers are Welcome team supported by Frome Town Council have been able to create a programme which people will enjoy while still following the Covid-19 guidelines.

Now in it's third year, the team have planned the event to ensure everyone is kept safe during the walks. Kept to a maximum of 6 participants (including the walk leader), the group walks are small in number but promise to be big on variety and offer something for everyone.

The programme includes some old favourites such as the "A Sense of Space" walk which is a 90 minute walk explaining the background and folklore behind some of the local place names and the well-known and well-loved historical Singer's Trail. And some new walks such as the "Green Spaces" walk which is a five mile walk around Frome taking in Packsaddle, Fromefield, Rodden Meadow, to mention just a few, and "Frome at War" which uncovers the contribution Frome and its people made during the two World Wars as well as stories about evacuees, Dunkirk survivors, American GIs and more.

Cllr Rich Ackroyd commented: "Getting out and about in the fresh air is more important than ever, and we have some cracking walks right on our doorstep and taking place over the Walking Festival. Spaces are limited on our walks this year, but never fear, the Discover Frome website hosts a number of walks you can download to enjoy in your own time".

All the group walks are free this year, but booking is essential and must be made in advance. You can find the full list of walks and how to book your place on the Discover Frome website: Click HERE : the Discover Frome site
