A new exercise class is coming to Frome and the mum behind it is hoping that the everyone-welcome policy ensures no new mum is made to feel less than wonderful.

The classes , starting on Friday August 25 at Frome's Cheese & Grain, are for mums AND babies (or toddlers) and aim to not only improve the health of mothers, but equally importantly make them feel good about themselves.

Thirty seven year old trainer, Sarah Van Tromp should know all about how tough it is, and how easy it is to be tough on yourself, as a new mum. With smiley 11 month old Theo as part of the class package, she wants to make sure no mum is left isolated.

Sweaty Mama is novel in that you bring baby too to the class, and while older children may want to mimic exercise along with their mums, smaller babies actually become part of the routine.

Sarah explained: " It is all about getting mommas together with their babes and making exercise not just good for your body but also for your mental health. And it is set to music so it will hopefully be good for your soul too. It is all about having a little bit of fun too WITH your baby and creating that all important bonding."

Life as a mum is so pressured

"Sometimes life is so manic you might not even get chance to bond and engage with your baby," explained Sarah. " And being a new mum can be lonely too so we want to build a community of mums, with a nice way of focusing on you and your baby, for 45 minutes a week."

Fitness instructor Sarah is herself a single mum, so the work was a perfect fit for her and son Theo.

" I am passionate about making mums feel good about themselves. I don't want this to be another pressure so I will make the exercise to fit in with your birth experience. As long as you have had your six weeks check up and are given a good bill of health you will be welcome, whatever your circumstances.

"That's the whole beauty about it, building back some muscles, but all in a fun environment, not putting pressure on you, building you up for the future."

The session, is based around cardio vascular work, but as Sarah is keen to stress, it will be tailored to fit every mum, however their experience and the music and the basic routine regularly changes up, to keep things fresh.

People do need to book HERE so she is ready to adapt the class, but a trial session is just £7.50. the sessions six classes (of 45 minutes each) is £45.

After the class - a catch up

"We want everyone to stay on after the class to make friends, so it becomes a mum tribe. Every person has a unique experience and a unique baby, but some of the challenges are the same - so we hope we can all talk them through as mums. "
