Pupils at Sexey's School have been celebrating an exceptional set of A Level results

Headteacher Helen Cullen, shared the immense pride she has in the Year 13 leavers of 2023 who have navigated their way through a very challenging secondary school experience and made the transition from GCSE's to A Levels remarkably well.

Helen Cullen said "This cohort were a very close cohort who worked hard and juggled A Level study with making a positive contribution to life at Sexey's School, and in particular the Student Leadership Team led by Hal and Ann, supported by Sam and Poppy. All our Year 13 students should be proud of their achievements, which will open the doors to the next stage of their lifelong learning journey. For many this will be onto University or Apprenticeship. 88% of the cohort will be progressing to University in September 2023 with 52% confirmed as going to Russell Group Universities. This year we see an increasing number of students taking a gap year."

We have an unrelenting commitment to high quality teaching and learning at Sexey's School and we are very proud that we have so many high performing A level courses including:

•English Literature with 100% A*-C and 75% A*/A

•Government and Politics with 100% A*-C and 50% A*/A

•Photography 100% A*-C

•Geography 92% A*-C

•History 90% A*-C

The top five performing students for 2023 all attended Sexey's School from Year 7 with Poppy joining in Year 10:

•Emily Dillon A*A*A* - Emily has gained a place at Oxford to study PPE

•Tom Ford A*A*A A - Tom has gained a place at Cambridge to study Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology

•Finlay Willson A*A B – Finlay is progressing to university to study Physics

•Daisy Spicer-Ralfe A*AB - Daisy has gained a place at Oxford Brooks to study Media, Journalism and Publishing

•Rosie Goffe AAA - Rosie is progressing to student Politics and International Relations at Manchester University

•Poppy Alderman AAB - Poppy is progressing to University of Leeds to study International Relations.

Mr Moise, Director of Sixth Form, was delighted to join students on results day and celebrate their excellent results. "This was a fantastic group of young people, and we will miss them and their contribution to the school community. I know they will have exciting futures ahead of them".

Chrysta Garnett, CEO of the Quantock Education Trust, says, "These young people should be exceptionally proud of what they have accomplished over the last few years. It is a testament to themselves, their hard work and resilience, and the quality of education at Sexey's School. Their journey through their senior school and sixth form education has not been a conventional one due to the pandemic, but being able to leave with some wonderful memories and strong academic results that will set them up well for the future is a fantastic achievement. Well done to the students and well done to Mrs Cullen and her staff."

Helen Cullen shared that she knew the students would want to join her in thanking their amazing staff for their inspiration, support and teaching over the last two years and the students' parents for the support and guidance they have provided their sons and daughters.

Sexey's School staff wish each and every Year 13 leaver every success and happiness as they leave us and we look forward to hearing about what the future holds for them as an Old Sexeian's.
