Frome Community Hospital's matron has thanked kind-hearted residents and companies for their donations of practical presents and treats.

The hospital has received several donations - from cakes to hand cream - as a show of appreciation during the coronavirus outbreak.

Marks and Spencer delivered sandwiches and cake which were shared between the hospital's hungry evening shift workers.

While Asda has dropped off tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits to help lift spirits.

Hand care packs were sent by Meadow Lodge Beauty Retreat for nurses at both Frome Community Hospital's minor injuries unit and Bath's Royal United Hospital.

And Friends of Frome Hospital also donated dozens of tubes of moisturising hand cream for staff to quench their dry mitts after frequent hand washing.

Nicola Murphy, Somerset NHS Foundation Trust's matron at Frome Community Hospital, said: "On behalf of the hospital I would like to say a big thank you to the community of Frome for their generous donations, which really show how much they greatly care for the wellbeing of our wonderful NHS colleagues.

"I also want to thank people in the town for their support in following the Government's stay at home advice, which helps to keep our NHS colleagues and patients protected."
