We Hear You (WHY) is a local charity that provides free, professional counselling and emotional support for anyone affected by cancer, or any life threatening condition across Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset and Wiltshire.

The charity supports the individual diagnosed and everyone connected to them, including friends, family and colleagues and offer a specialist service for children as young as four. They receive no central government funding and rely on a combination of community fundraising, grants, trusts and corporate partnerships, so were delighted to be chosen as Thatcher + Hallam's charity partner earlier this year.

In September 2021, Thatcher + Hallam announced WHY as their Charity of the Year.

Laura Ablett, Partner at Thatcher + Hallam said: "The team wasted no time in getting involved in fundraising efforts, with several of the team taking part in a successful world record attempt on 5th September (pending official Guinness verification) and others joining in with WHY walk, a month-long walking challenge as part of WHY's September Superstars campaign. Back on more familiar ground in October, we have been running a Will Month promotion, which will result in a donation to WHY."

Fundraising and Communications Manager at WHY, Gemma Wilkes, said "We're so delighted that Thatcher + Hallam have chosen to support WHY. Our partnerships with local businesses and corporate partners are so important from a fundraising perspective and a fantastic way for a business to support the community beyond their official remit."

Gemma continued: "The people we support come to us at a very difficult time, having received news that no one wants to hear. Whatever the prognosis, it's often a motivating factor for planning for the future and ensuring legal affairs are in order. These conversations are all too easy to put off, quite understandably, especially for younger people. Working with trusted partners, who offer relevant services, facilitates those important conversations and takes some of the pressure off the individual while they're coping with so much. The money raised by charity partners such as Thatcher + Hallam sustains our charity and important services, for all-round benefit."
