The Frome RFC 2nds have been on a high over recent weeks and currently sit at the top of the Dorset & Wilts 1 North.

Westbury kicked off and attacked the Frome 22 from the start, but Frome were able to control and within 2 minutes Full Back Rob Sully counter attacked from his own 22, supported by Harry Burge which took Frome into the Westbury 22.

The forwards were quick to react to an opportunity and Second Row, Connor McPherson seized his opportunity and went over for his 2nd try of the season. Brad Parry adding the extras.

Frome then continued to cause Westbury problems, with rolling mauls and counter rucking. Flanker Damon Ashmore stealing the ball whenever he got the chance at the breakdowns.

On eight minutes Frome got a line out just outside the Westbury 22, a catch and drive with Hooker Alex Chalmers directing from the back, moved the ball forward before Chalmers broke off to go over the line to score.

Frome pushed straight from the kick off and worked the phases, getting over the gain line and it was the, Frome set the backs going, with Sully finishing off a well worked move to score.

Frome produced a try of real class, with the ball out on the right hand side with some inter passing between four or five players, eventually coming out to the backs with winger Craig Thompson coming off his wing and linking up with Sully who finished off this sweeping move well. Parry adding the extra points.

Westbury then had their turn to test the Frome defence, with some last gasp tackles being put in by Sully and Winger Cory Plumridge.

Westbury thought they had scored only for the ball to be held up, unfortunately during this passage of play Frome lost their Flanker Harry Bridle with James Milton coming on to replace him.

With the resulting scrum won, the backs went for the attack with Sully feeding Plumridge who went round his opposite number and looked to go the whole pitch only to be stopped just short of the line, but with Flanker Milton on hand to take the pass and go over for the try.

With the half nearly over Westbury tried hard to get back into the match and the tackles flying in, winger Plumridge was adjudged to have gone high and was shown the yellow card.

Frome countered from their 22 again and with a storming break from Gordon Grieson into midfield setting up Sully who was stopped short but was able to pop it up to supporting Centre Brad Parry who went over unopposed to score. He then added the extra points.

Westbury then had a passage of play where they were able to get some joy through their centres, and on 54 mins Westbury got some reward for their never say die attitude with a try in the corner.

Frome started to get their game going again and on 64 mins following some good carries from Jason Barraclough and McPherson, the backs showed what they could do again with the ball going out to winger Kyle Williamson who straightened up and fed Sully for him to go over for his hat trick.

Straight from kick off the forwards took charge and provided yet another good platform. This time it was scrum half Harry Burge making the break only to be tapped tackled, but still had the skill to pop it up to supporting winger Williamson who accelerated around the last man to touch down for his third try of the season. Parry added the extra.

Westbury were to have the last word of the day though with their centre coming off a great line through the Frome back line and crashing over the line for their second try of the day.

FT: Frome RFC II 48 - 10 Westbury RFC

Good effort from both teams played in the right spirit. Player of The Match was Jason Barraclough for some great work that went often unseen but without it we wouldn't have got the platform to work off.

This Saturday the Frome RFC 2nd XV are at home to 4th place Melksham RFC 1st XV.
