The work on the Market Place in Frome seems to be going well, with some unconfirmed reports that it is ahead of schedule.

The closure, which has infuriated many drivers, began from June 22 and was due to last 11 weeks. So that would mean it would be completed this coming week.

However under Somerset County Council's notice that could be extended - partly to increase spacing for social distancing during the pandemic- until October 22.

Meanwhile Somerset County Council has an interactive map where residents can put forward suggestions for proposed road closures or changes they think will improve traffic.

the Somerset Council website

One comment put forward on that site is that the council prohibit parking on B3090 Bath Road/Roden Road next to Co-op. The proposer said: "This causes traffic to go into the right turn area of on coming traffic at junction. Also restricts view of junction for on coming traffic."

There are two other suggestions, one for Nunney Road and one for Welshmill.

The big next increase in through traffic will be when Frome College re-opens.

Currently the College plans to re-open in stages: On Monday 7

September for Year 9 (current Year 8) and Year 12 (current Year 11).

Tuesday September 8 the College will be open for Year 9 (current Year 8) and Year 12 (current Year 11).

Full re-opening of the college on September 9th.
