Frome's water bills have just landed on household mats and the rise - again - has shocked many.

Wessex Water has increased its prices, again in the case of one home it is over 7 per cent.

Updated: Wessex Water has come back to Frome Nub News. A Wessex Water spokesperson said: "Our average bill is increasing by around 3.5%, which is below the rate of inflation. Meanwhile we are continuing to invest more than £1 billion [between 2020 and 2025] to improve water and sewerage services for customers and to protect the environment. "We realise some customers are facing financial worries due to pressure around the cost of living or due to the Covid pandemic, so we have a range of support available for those struggling to pay their water bills."

Frome Nub News approached the company for comment, with bills for a small flat now just a few pound shy of £400 a year.

On social media one comment : " Despite a Cost Of Living Crisis, Bristol Water Wessex Water are putting additional squeeze on households with a £43 rise in rates for Frome. Utterly shameful. "

You can read the latest financial statement from Wessex Water by clicking HERE : the 2021 Annual Report To be clear Frome's drinking water is supplied by Bristol Water, Wessex Water is responsible for sewerage services and the sewerage part of customers' bills. Colin Skellett Chief Executive who was appointed to Wessex Water in 1988 and appointed to the board of Wessex Water Services Limited in 1989, earned £276,000 in 2020 and again in 2021, plus bonuses worth that much again and additional benefits. Although it is not clear why this is so much lower than the amount he was reported paid in 2017 which was £499,000.
