The local Frome rescue centre is now looking for new homes for 17 rescued tiels, several of whom, as you can see needed a lot of care and attention but all of whom have now completed a quarantine period.
The first to be homed out will be those who are almost fully feathered, a mixture of boys and girls. The animals have been housed together nearly all of their life, some have been together over 20 years so Cornpop Critter will not have singletons adopted. They posted : " I am happy for them to go to either an outdoor aviary or home. A lot have adapted well to indoor life so far and are very inquisitive about what's going on around the home. "A lot of these birds will benefit homes rather than aviaries due to their age with being proper clumsy buggers and not flying properly. However, they are under no circumstances to be CLIPPED for human benefit. " Cornpop would like the birds be be spoilt, in quiet homes and to someone who understands their needs as elderly birds and who understands they are more look and don't touch, but also not crammed into a cage 24/7. The rescue centre also warns that : " You will also have to bare in mind that with their age, you may not have too much time with them.Although, they could still have quite a few years left."
