He first donated blood back in 1970 - joking that time off and a biscuit was enough of an incentive.

This week 76 year old John Smart gave his 100th blood donation and still enjoyed the biscuit and tea.

He gave his first donation on 15th November 1970, as an apprentice at Frome's Butlers & Tanners printers and got that free cup of tea and a biscuit.

Nub News can't offer that but we want to send him HUGE thanks for his selfless donations through the decades.

His daughter, who told us about his donation milestone, told us that he looks on donating as an oil change for his body and told us that afterwards he feels rejuvenated and refreshed.

Well we don't now about that - but what we do know is that what you have done John, for the hundredth time on Tuesday July 20, is something quite extraordinary. He gave blood at the Frome Assembly Rooms behind the Memorial Theatre and for that we offer our big thanks.
