The colourful Frome Saturday market in pre coronavirus days

Stall holders wanting Mendip District Council to reconsider their decision to halt the town's Saturday market will be at Frome Library tomorrow (Saturday January 23) collecting signatures and talking to customers.

As reported on Nub News stallholders say that the market was closed without a good enough reason and with out any consultation with local customers or traders.

Two further towns in Somerset, but not Frome, could see major regeneration projects as part of a plan for economic recovery after the coronavirus crisis.

Somerset County Council and the four district councils have put together a recovery plan, identifying a number of projects or areas which will provide a boost for residents and businesses once the pandemic is over.

FromeFM is inviting local musicians from Frome and the West Country to send their music into the community radio station accompanied by a short introduction, to allow artists and bands to introduce their own music on the radio.

Julian Crawley, chair of Frome FM, explained the initiative, "There's a wealth of musical talent in the South West, and musicians and music lovers have had a really tough time since last March with live venues closed. We want to help local bands get their music out to their fans and new listeners by creating slots in our schedule where they can introduce and broadcast their latest tracks to all the residents of Frome and beyond."
