After decades working in a suit, it is getting his hands muddy and getting outdoors that keeps Alistair Scott happy, a philosophy he is now sharing to readers of Nub News, with a monthly gardening column. From a few sunflower seeds on a window sill, through to vast vegetable beds, with every plot in between, there are many levels of gardening and he wants everyone to enjoy them.
We caught up with him, in the rain, at his still-colourful plot at the Muriel Jones' allotment field on Birchill Lane in Frome, and asked him about sowing the seeds of gardening passion.Planning applications in and around Frome this week include:

Somerset taxpayers are "subsidising the policing in Bristol" and not getting a fair deal, a councillor has claimed.
Anthony Trollope-Bellew, who sits on Somerset West and Taunton Council, has criticised the amount of council tax Avon and Somerset Constabulary has claimed for the coming financial year.

Frome Town Council has agreed to fund a new ventilation system for the Cheese & Grain.
Councillors voted to invest £20,000 in a new system which they were told will be needed once the venue is re-opened.

The Westway Co-op in Frome is closing up, the Post Office which operates from inside the shop has confirmed.
They are now looking for someone to take on the post office responsibilities. Since it is the biggest office and busiest in Frome in terms of volumes of post, it will need a reasonable large outlet to take it on.
