Elderly woman has to be cut free from her car after crash at roundabout in Frome

An elderly woman had to be cut free from her car after it collided with a lorry at a roundabout in Frome yesterday (August 7).

Just after 5.30pm, two fire engines from Frome was mobilised to reports of a crash at the roundabout where Christchurch Street East meets Portway, Garsdale and Vicarage Street, involving a car and a lorry with one elderly female still inside the vehicle.

On arrival crews got to work freeing the casualty by removing the side and roof of vehicle using hydraulic and battery-powered cutting gear.

Crews liaised with police and paramedics on scene and made the vehicle safe. The woman was left in the hands of the paramedics.
