The Frome RFC 2nd XV kicked off their Dorset & Wilts 1 North league campaign on Saturday when they welcomed Chippenham RFC 2nd XV to The Lane.

The home side started confidently and looked to their Forwards to put pressure on the away side from the start, with some dominant phases. Frome looked to play out from their own 22 and with the break down the blindside, they unluckily knocked on, and the chance went missing. There was a pause in play when following a tackle Captain David Abrahams left the field for HIA which saw a juggle around in the backline.

This seemed to spur the home team on, Frome worked through several phases and following some good Forward pressure Hooker Phil Clarke powered over the line for the first score of the day. The conversion going wide.

Frome took hold of the game and worked the ball wide for the first time and in the 15th minute Winger Henry Bull looked to be in in the corner only to be tackled into touch just short of the line.

On 16 minutes, a good catch and drive from an attacking line out lead to hooker Clarke going over again for his second try.

Chippenham continued to threaten and through a strong pack, led by the No.8 made valuable yards.

There was another interchange with Frome RFC Flanker Harry Bridle coming off for a blood replacement with Mark Regler coming on.

On the 26th minute, some quick thinking from Bull and Clarke saw a quick line out allowing the home side to put the ball out to the backline, with Inside Centre Matt Warnock running a great line to forge a hole through the defence and diving over the line untouched, Fullback Ben Eley adding the extra points.

From the kick off Frome seemed to loose their concentration, and Chippenham sensed a way into the game, conceding several penalties, Frome couldn't keep the Chippenham attack out and the away side scored through their forwards close to the line.

Before the half time whistle, and needing to make up for the visitors try, Frome went down the field and from an attacking line out, saw Flanker Damon Ashmore crashing over the line for the score.

Changes at half time saw Kieran Storey come on for Gordon Grieson and Harry Bridle returning to the field for Ashmore.

Frome started the half where they had left off, with their Forwards working hard, with No. 8 Miles Davies making Some barnstorming runs.

Frome worked a good position out to the left hand side, then sensing there was space out wide, moved the ball well to Winger Cory Plumridge who still had work to do, and with a turn of pace scored in the right hand corner.

Frome didn't have it their own way and Chippenham did however have periods of time where they tried to put some pressure on the home side, but Frome showed some great drift defence and never looked in trouble in the second half.

On 76mins the home side put pressure on the Chippenham's scrum inside their 22, which lead to a scrum half Harry Burge jumping on a loose ball and Bridle getting the ball down for the try. Eley adding the extra points.
