Frome RFC travelled to play old rivals Swanage and Wareham RFC on Saturday expecting a tough battle, and after a disappointing loss in the first round Frome were keen to get the win.

The early exchanges were fairly even between the two sides, but the home side took any early lead with a penalty in front of the posts.

Frome struck back immediately when after some slick passing in midfield, Full Back Henry Bull was put into space and accelerated to the line to score the games first try.

The hosts used their large pack to good use, and combining well with the backline, they soon took the lead with a converted try.

Frome continued to press and gained the regained the lead with a move straight from the training pitch, which saw Flanker Sam Bartlett crash his way over to score an unconverted try.

Swanage & Wareham went ahead just before the half time whistle with another penalty.

The second half started in a similar manner with both sides trying to play an open style of rugby but the penalty count continued for both sides which effected the flow of the game.

Another Penalty from the home side saw them extend their lead in front of the posts.

Frome were dealt a blow when they went down to 14 men following a player getting a second yellow card. Despite this the game remained close, but being down a man and the sun blazing, it wasn't long until the hosts found space and scored two tries to increase their lead.

In the dying minutes of the game Frome thought they had scored a try, much to the delight of the travelling supporters, but the referee ruled it out for crossing, and time was up with the whistle being blown.

Frome were disappointed with the result but with the back three of Henry Bull, Tom Weston and Player of the Match Simon Finch all making positive impacts.

Full Time: Swanage & Wareham RFC 26 - 13 Frome RFC

Player of the Match went to Winger Simon Finch.

After the first two rounds, Frome currently sit 9th in Counties 1 Tribute Southern South, and will be looking for home advantage when they welcome Bath based Walcot RFC to the Lane on Saturday.
