The first half started with Frome playing up the famous Marlborough hill, and the home side put pressure on Frome from the kick off.
Seven minutes in the home side managed to take a scrum against the head inside the Frome 22 and managed to crash over the line.
Frome lifted themselves and managed to put phases together and make good ground. The Forward were putting pressure on the home side, with great runs from Michael Duppa-Miller and James Milton.
But Frome struggled to find that clinical touch with an overlap going begging and then just when they thought they'd scored the ball was stripped from No.8 Stuart Elliott as he went over the line.
On the 25th minute the home side managed to get the ball to their wide runners and their No.8 managed to get free of a couple of tackles to score under the posts.
Marlborough then imposed themselves more and the visitors couldn't find their shape and the home side took advantage and scored just before the break.
Half Time Score:
Marlborough RFC II 17 - 0 Frome RFC II Half time saw Phil Meenan and Connor McPherson take the field with changes to the Forwards. At the start of the half the introduction of fresh legs looked to have made a difference with Meenan controlling the ball well at the break down and the running of McPherson injected a some pace into the attack. The forwards took the game to the home side and on 45 mins, Duppa-Miller spotted a hole in the defence and ran through to score under the posts. Liam Sheldon converted. This lifted the visitors and were now using the slope to their advantage, only to suffer a counter attack and the home side ran the ball the length of the pitch with their full back touching down 22 - 7. Full back Leon Langford left the field after a good game to be replaced by Pete White who was making his debut for 2nds. Frome then came back at the home side with McPherson thinking he had touched down following an impressive catch and drive from a line out. Following more changes with James Milton making way for Owen Davies this spurred Frome on and from another great drive Rob Parnell touched down. Frome then came back again using the pick and go to great effect, Mark Regler popping up everywhere and driving the team forward, once in the home sides 22, the ball came back to stand in Fly half Ethan White who crashed over the line. Then came the sucker punch from the home side, who again used the pace of their backline to run through some weak tackling to score what would be the winning try. Frome rallied well and picked and driove at the heart of the defence. At every scrum the visitors put pressure on the home side winning several against the head, this lead to McPhearson crashing over for what would be the last play of the game. Final Score:Marlborough RFC II 27 - 22 Frome RFC II
