Shepton Mallet AFC are through to the FA Cup second round qualifying for the first time in their history after a memorable night at West Shepton Playing Fields.
After Saturday's eventful 0-0 draw at Blackfield and Langley, which made national headlines after the opposition goalkeeper was sent off for urinating in a hedge, there was increased attention on Tuesday's replay.
The Mallet fell behind inside three minutes but bounced back brilliantly to lead 3-1 at half-time thanks to goals from Conrad Peck, Aaron Seviour and Fin Haines. Blackfield pushed to get back into the game but brilliant defending restricted them to just one more goal in the dying stages.
Next up for the Mallet after the 3-2 victory is a home game against Wellington AFC, who are currently languishing near the bottom of the Western Toolstation League table, followed by a trip to Southern League Premier South leaders Weston-Super-Mare AFC in the second round qualifying on Saturday, September 17.
