The Frome RFC 2nd XV made the short visit to 3rd place Westbury RFC 1st at the weekend, with Frome sat near the lower end of the table they knew they were in for a hard match, and the home side didn't disappoint.
Straight from the off Frome were made to defend and Westbury were keen to use their large pack. After being under pressure for over 15mins, Westbury eventually made the pressure pay off and following some scrappy play the ball went wide and Westbury scored, with their kicker adding the extras.
Westbury were in no mood to take their foot off the gas, and kept the pressure on, and following a kick over the top, Westbury forced Frome to make a mistake and the Westbury Fly Half spotted the gap and went in under the posts. The kick was added.
Within 5mins Westbury went over the line again, following a set play, allowing the Fly Half to again to dance through the defence again. Again the kick was added.

The 2nd half started again with Frome having to defend, and when they did get the chance to attack Centre, Mike Rutt showed what he could do, but unfortunately it was only fleeting glimpses as Frome were trying too hard to make things happen and when Frome made mistakes, Westbury took full advantage, and their pack took great delight in getting a push over try on 45mins. Kick was added.
Westbury then scored two more tries gaining confidence by the minute and off loading well in the tackles, and with Frome's defence getting tired gaps were opening up and tackles were being missed.
But Frome suddenly found some pressure of their own and got a penalty in a kickable position. Captain Max Stickly pointed at the posts to get some points on the board. Max stepped up and slotted the kick.
Frome made some good ground and again got into Westbury's 22, and it was Frome's returning prop Phil Clarke who crashed over to get on the score sheet. The kick was missed.

Player of the Match went to Flanker Ed Darwent, and No.8 Owen Marsh, both players tackled their hearts out and showed great commitment throughout the game.
The Frome RFC 2nd XV are next back in league action on March 2nd when they welcome Devizes RFC II to The Lane.
