The famed Frome Independent is back this coming Sunday - March 6.

It is the first market of the year and will be a regular monthly event from now on until December.

So on offer - local producers of pickles, and cheese - and a lot more.

Somerset Farmers Market takes the pitch at the fountain in Frome, while there is street food along in The Westway. The world on a plate will include everything from Mac and Cheese to memories from Tibet. All through the centre of town - which is closed to traffic from early morning until 4pm - there are stalls selling everything from T shirts to pottery. While the cobbles of Catherine Hill will be the so-called suitcase stalls - smaller individual market sellers - who ply their trade in creative wares from hand painted cards and curated muffins, jewellery to candles. Finally virtually all the Cheese & Grain care park is taken over by vintage stalls. Again the only surprising thing is how surprisingly diverse the tables, laden with flags, fashion, rugs to relics. Established in 2009 as a not for profit company, the market now attracts 80,000 visitors a year to Frome.
