The Christmas light trail in Stourhead has opened with dazzling displays said to created by a million bulbs.

There were plenty of gasps of delight as the first visitors, including Frome Nub News hit the trail.

The outdoor festive walk includes numerous displays, and accompanying music and takes approximately 90 minutes to walk around.

At the end a welcome chance to buy hot chocolate or mulled wine but our favourite, half way around, if a little expensive, very tasty marshmallows and a chance to toast them and warm up yourself.

Visitors are encouraged to wear appropriate footwear. The illuminated event will run to January 2, bar Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
