Hard working staff at the local foodbank will be out as usual today (Monday) helping some of the most vulnerable in the town.

The staff are being extra careful with their own safety as they know how vital their service is.

The Frome foodbank is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 am until 1.00pm.

People must have referrals from agencies such as the medical centre to get a box of essential food and supplies by coming to the car park behind Frome Town Hall.

The volunteer co-ordinator told Nub News: " We can only have two people at a time on shifts and cones necessary to keep distances. We are running more shifts with fewer people to sort and collect to keep the food bank running."

Meantime Somerset County council put out an urgent appeal for social workers.

The council is hiring Social Workers on a casual basis and is looking for former or retired Social Workers or any experienced social care practitioner currently not in employment.
