In line with Tier 3 restrictions, which came into force today (Boxing Day) the Westway cinema in Frome has closed up - again.
Back on December 2 when Frome was put into Tier 2 coronavirus restrictions the cinema could be open, but had to shut by 11pm.
But from one minute past midnight on December 26 the whole of Somerset moved into Tier 3 due to rising coronavirus numbers. In this tier, all indoor entertainment venues must close so all cinemas, theatres and concert halls put the lights out.
Meantime in the centre of town today some shops were open, including the local Co-op, the card shop and the coffee shop in the Westway #Number 1.
Under Tier 3 restrictions hairdressers and gyms and non-essential retail can open, but all hospitality businesses must stay closed apart from for takeaway service, click-and-collect, drive-through and delivery.
The cinema re-opened after the national lockdown for socially distanced performances on July 10,

The government advice for travel within Tier 3 areas, (and today all of Somerset is in this tier) is : " Where possible, you should stay local and avoid travelling outside your local area, meaning your village or town, or part of a city. People should continue to travel for reasons such as work, education, medical attention or if they have caring responsibilities."
