Whilst we all keep a close eye on the current climate the Frome RFC Academy XV are preparing for a return to rugby and begin pre season training Thursday the 16th of July, 7pm - 8:30/9pm.

This seasons Academy XV welcomes a new Coaching team, we caught up with new Head Coach Jon Gerrish earlier this week.

"I'm really excited to be taking on a new role at Frome RFC next season and so far I'm really impressed with the current group of young men we have joining, and returning, to the Academy.

U18's rugby was a special time for me when I played and I hope I can help create those memories for this seasons team. I'll be joined by Brendon Brook, who has a wealth of experience coaching at Frome, and Will Button, a former Frome 1st XV & Club Captain."

Training is open to all U17-U18 players and new players are always welcome.

Please arrive, on the pitch, for 7pm in training kit and bring your own water bottle, refills are available. A reminder that due to the current situation, the changing and shower facilities are still closed.

A special mention of thanks must go to last seasons Academy Coach Leo Stickley who has worked alongside his team for many seasons.

Meantime Frome RFC kicked off phase 2 of preseason training on July 13.

Head Coach Toby Culff commented on the announcement: "Thanks to everyone who participated in the first phase of pre-season training in June. It was unlike anything the Club has undertaken before, for obvious reasons, but to have nearly 60 players take part was extremely encouraging. Once the strangeness had subsided, everyone threw themselves into some tough but thoroughly enjoyable sessions. Special thanks to Ben Eley PT for planning and delivering an excellent programme in challenging circumstances. "

Please get in touch via Social Media or contact DoR Cameron Hastie at [email protected] if you'd like to get involved."
