Planning news in and around Frome this week :

Approval has been sought on land contamination issues on the planning application to build at 9 Baker Street in Frome. That is the application for the demolition of the existing warehouse alongside the butchers on Baker Street and the building of a new home on the site. The application is for details reserved by Condition 11 (Land Contamination 1) and Condition 12 (Land Contamination 2) on planning consent 2021/0667/FUL. An application has been made to build a single storey side extension at

35 Cranmore View in Frome. Details under Ref. No: 2021/2563/FUL

There is an application in to Mendip planners to build front and rear extensions at 13 Redland Terrace in Frome. Details under Ref: Ref. No: 2021/2510/HSE

An application is in to fell two ash trees due to ash die-back, at Nunney Court on Church Street in Nunney. Details under Ref. No: 2021/2555/TCA .

Homeowners of 6 Willow Vale in Frome have applied to fell a Sycamore, Goat Willow and a Cherry tree. Ref. No: 2021/2393/TCA

And planners are considering approval of details reserved by conditions 3 (Reptile Mitigation Strategy), 6 (Nesting Bird Protection) and 8 (the render that will be used) on 2020/0970/FUL. That is the planning consent to build a new two storey home at Light House on Rosedale Walk in Frome. Details of this application under Ref. No: 2021/2557/APP.

Planning decisions taken this week include:

There will be a second Greggs in Frome . Planners have approved an application for external alterations to a site up near Sainsbury's . They have agreed to allow changes to of the former Carphone Warehouse site in Wessex Fields. The application includes the installation of plant equipment, outdoor seating area and a re-configuration of the car park.

Approved, plans to replace an existing rear extension with a partially two storey rear extension and to demolish the existing annex building and construction of a new building at Pickford House at 23 Bath Road in Beckington.

And an application to build a detached garage with ancillary office and storage above Oaklands on Bulls Quarries Road in Tytherington, has been approved.

Meantime over in Shepton Mallet you might be interested to know that plans to build 120 homes on the ex-Greencore factory site in the centre of Evercreech have been turned down by Mendip District Council.

An initial application for Outline Planning Permission with all matters reserved except access, appearance, layout and scale, for all existing buildings and equipment other than Kemps Mill which will be retained as flexible Class E/F2 floorspace, and the building of 120 residential dwellings, together with open space, vehicular and pedestrian accesses, landscaping and related infrastructure and engineering works at the former Greencore Factory, Prestleigh Road, Evercreech, had been submitted by West Estates Development Ltd.

In refusing the proposals, the planning officer's report said: "The proposed development would result in the loss of employment land on an established employment site in a primary village for which no exceptional circumstances have been demonstrated through adequate marketing or otherwise."
