Scaffolding on Frome central property: Hopes that it will all be done by March 2021

By Susie Watkins 10th Dec 2020

The central Frome property Garston Lodge, which was devastated by a fire over two years ago, will, the developers hope, be back up and lived in by March next year.

The listed property has been swathed in scaffolding as it was renovated following a devastating fire in October 2018.

James Reseigh, Director of Neighbourhoods for LiveWest, said: "It is expected that the building works at Garston Lodge will be completed by the end of March next year and we are very much looking forward to welcoming residents back in.

"Due to the listed status of the building, this is a complex project and we were able to start on site at the beginning of this year.

"But due to Covid-19, work was put on hold until construction was given the go-ahead to return.

"The original features in the block are back in place now and the building is taking great shape. We hope residents are very happy when they move back in."

On October 19 2018, eight residents were evacuated from their homes after a large fire broke out in the building which took ten fire crews to bring under control.

The building is Grade II listed and is thought to date from around 1835.
