Laughter Is The Best Medicine as Frome Focuses on the Funny Bones

Laughter has been scientifically proved burn about 40 calories every 10 minutes! So it's off the sofa and into the Merlin Theatre for a great workout as the venue's programme is packed with comedy.

Kicking off the hilarity are multi-award winning, fast-paced, national-touring theatre company New Old Friends who bring, new-to-Frome, their comedy thriller Crimes, Camera, Action. Set in the golden era of Hollywood, this super slick show is crammed with visual gags and puns as it hits town for three performances, on 11 and 12 February.

Next up, and just announced, is an evening with well-loved comedian, broadcaster, Private Eye medical correspondent and author Dr Phil Hammond.

And fantastic news for stand-up fans in Somerset as The Merlin plays host to a brand new regular comedy club. Chuckl's Frome Comedy Club arrives in town for its opening night on March 19th. Scheduled to take place every-other-month, the first acts to hit the stage this season will include Laura Lexx. Famous as much for her viral Twitter thread claims to be married to Jurgen Klopp as for her appearances on Live At The Apollo, Mock The Week, Dave, Comedy Central's Roast and recently with Jason Manford, Laura hails from Somerset and is one of the funniest women comics on the circuit today.
