Portway Post Office in Frome has reopened with a temporary postmaster, while a permanent solution is found.

The Post Office announced in May the shop would temporarily close, following the resignation of the previous postmistress.

After a near month-long closure, the Post Office reopened on Monday 8 July with the temporary set up.

The permanent vacancy has now been advertised.

Antoinette Chitty, Post Office, network provision lead, said: "We know how important a Post Office is to a community and we are delighted that we have appointed a temporary postmaster to operate this branch whilst we work towards a permanent solution.

"This allows us to minimise the temporary period of closure for this branch."
