Local residents have praised the fire service in Frome for arriving in 'minutes' and being brilliant when they were called out to this dramatic fire.

Amazingly no one was hurt, as these photos were taken early on in the blaze (at around 1am this morning April 9) and it got much bigger.

Two fire appliances were called out to Cabell Road in Frome in the early hours to a rapidly spreading fire, with officers on the scene in minutes.

They were called out following over ten calls from the owners, neighbours and local residents, initially reporting a shed on fire, which was attached to a house.

The fire had then spread to the property, and the crews set to work containing the fire, which at this time had spread to another shed in an adjoining garden and the exteriors of the houses that the sheds belonged to.

Crews worked for well over an hour to prevent the fire from spreading any further and fortunately there were no casualties.

Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels and main jets to extinguish the fire, before using a thermal imaging camera and small tools to make the scene safe and ensure the fire was out, with no hotspots.

The sheds were destroyed by the fire, which also caused damage to the exterior of several of the neighbouring properties including windows, fascias and guttering.

On social media, residents said the fire officers were just brilliant.
