Frome RFC welcomed Trowbridge RFC to the Lane, on a windy wet Saturday afternoon.

Frome started well and it was clear that this would be a tight battle. The home sides defence held well with strong tackling from the Back Row pairing of Will Button and James Milton, whilst in attack No.8 Stevan Randall was making his trademark runs from the scrum.

With 33 mins gone on the clock, Trowbridge had their best spell of play and despite some resilient defending by Frome, the pressure tolled and Trowbridge managed to get themselves a line out on the 5 metre line, the next play saw them in the corner.

The second half was almost a repeat of the first, some great runs from the Frome pack and some superb tackling from both sides. But again the visitors were able to build and scored on the 58th minute.

Frome now were pushing hard but as hard as they might the Trowbridge team push back just as hard, and with gaps starting to open up the away team managed another score on 65 mins, and then an unlucky intercept lead to another score on 70mins.

Frome managed to close the last few minutes of the match with their best period of play, and at last their game plan was being put into practice, building phases and field position.

Kyle Stickley and Dan Castle enjoyed their return to the 2nd XV with some very strong running, as the back line managed to get into the game, with some lovely running by Fullback Harry Briddle and Winger Dav Jones.

Then with only a minute to go the Frome team got a deserved try through some hard work and excellent driving, with Castle dotting the ball down. Stevan Randall converting the try.

Man of the Match, sponsored by The Old Bath Arms, Frome went to Will Button.
