The Frome 3rd XV were back in league action this week as they travelled to Chard RFC, and although winning earlier in the season Frome knew this would be another tough encounter.

It was the hosts that started better with some strong attack but Frome were able to hold out the early pressure.

Frome were able to begin pressure, and with 20mins on the clock, the visitors struck with the first points of the day as Robert Parnell crossed the line.

Chard Continued to threaten with ball in hand but a stout defence Frome were back on the scoreboard soon after when Hooker Matt Jones went over, Scott Woodward adding the conversion.

Half Time: Chard RFC III 0 - 12 Frome RFC III

With Frome making some changes at halftime the side started well but simple errors at key points stopped further scores. As the side began to build momentum it was Richard Coleman who began to seek out the holes in defence, and it wasn't long until the points came when Steven Ruddick went over for Frome's 3rd, Woodward adding the extras.

However the celebration were shorty lived when an error from the kick led to Chard's first points of the day.

Frome were beginning to find space and the hard work from the Forwards was rewarded when Jon Witcombe dived over to score, Woodward converting.

As Chard pushed hard, it was Frome who scored next with a great break from Jamie Smith that put the game out of Chards reach. Woodward converting.

As the clock wound down, Chard threw everything at Frome looking for another try, and just before the final whistle there persistence paid off as they crashed over to score.

Full Time: Chard RFC III 10 - 33 Frome III

A great game played in the best rugby spirit. Thank you to Chard RFC for the hospitality and we wish you best of luck for the remainder of the season.

Man of the Match, sponsored by The old Bath Arms, Frome went to Jon Witcombe.
