The Frome RFC 3rd XV were in action at the weekend when they welcomed St Bernadette's Old Boys RFC 2nd XV to The Lane.

With the sun shining and the surprisingly dry conditions, the game was set to be an exciting one. Unfortunately the visitors were short of players, and with the large number at Frome's disposal, the home side happily lent players to run out for the opposition. Thank you to those players who stepped across to make sure a game went ahead.

It was the visitors who started well, and were able to get a foothold within the first ten minutes as they camped in the Frome 22. Eventually the space was found in St Bernadette's crossed over to score.

Frome were able to find composure, and after some fine kicking from Fly Half Toby Reilly, found themselves in the opposition 22.

It was No.8 Stuart Elliott who was able to burst his way over to score Frome's first points of the day, after a dominating scrum from the home pack set the platform for him to break free and cross the line.

The visitors continued to threaten and a break through the middle of the field led to another score out wide.

Replacement Forward Darren Bowles came on and made an instance impact as he made a trademark barn storming run, to be held just short, but was able to get the offload away to Seth Lavington who scored his first try in Frome colours on debut.

It was all equal at half time, and Frome now had to contend with the low sitting sun in their eyes, but Jamie Eveleigh managed this well from Full Back returning any ball with gusto.

Frome were camped in St Bernadette's 22 for the remainder of the game but were unable to find the space, eventually, under the command of replacement Fly Half David Abrahams, the Forwards worked close to the line and Jack Carter crashed through to score the final points of the day.

A huge thank you to the visiting side, a fixture played truly in the spirit of rugby.

FT Score: Frome RFC III 15 - 10 St Bernadette's OB RFC II

Player of the Match was awarded to No.8 Stuart Elliott and Hooker Jack Carter.

This weekend the 3rd XV are at Home as they face Walcot RFC 2nd XV.
