The Frome RFC Academy XV travelled to North Dorset RFC on Sunday to face the home team in a quarter final draw of the Dorset & Wilts U18's Plate competition.

Conditions were tough and the game plan for both teams was surely to keep it in the forwards. North Dorset gained the early advantage after converting a penalty but once Frome got a hold of the ball they started to go forward.

Despite some robust tackling from the home teams pack, the visitors controlled the tackle area for much of the first half and were clinical when releasing the backline, scoring 2 tries from the back three.

Half Time Score:

North Dorset RFC 3 - 12 Frome RFC

Frome had some more defending to do in the second half as North Dorset worked hard around the fringes to gather some momentum.

Some good kicking from the home side pushed Frome back into their own half for a period but some fantastic handling saw yet another break out on the wing and suddenly Frome were on the attack again.

This time the backline set the forwards up for a tight drive under the posts with the Frome pack getting a much deserved try.

Final Score:

North Dorset RFC 3 - 17 Frome RFC

The Frome RFC Academy now wait to see who they'll take on in the Semi Final of the Dorset & Wilts U18's Plate. Man of the Match, sponsored by The Old Bath Arms, Frome went to Angus Walsby.
