On a mild September Sunday morning, Frome RFC U16's travelled the short distance to Wells RFC, with a huge squad of 26 players.

The game started in lively fashion, from the opening kick off, Wells won the ball and played wide. Frome number 8, Harry Greenwood intercepted and ran 40m, he was be tackled just 5m from the line.

Just minutes later, Frome would be awarded a free kick, Scrum-half Alfie Newbery played this quickly and fed the back line again. The hosts defended well.

Minutes later, Rufus Phelps picked and went from the ruck to score first. The kick was added by Greenwood. (0-7)

Both teams couldn't get control of the game, and there was period of stalemate. Wells suddenly sprang into life to get their first try, 5-7.

Frome would have most of the possession now with probing runs from Zach Sibbly and Toby Cassidy. Dillon Harding was next on the score sheet for his 1st Frome try. He was fed the ball by Archie Pearn to score a well worked try in the corner. (5-12)

Kieran Stacey would enter the field of play coming on in place of the injured Cassidy. Stacey would make a good impact with some great carriers. He was rewarded just 10 minutes later with a try under the sticks. The kick was added. (5-19)

Frome couldn't hold on to this score line before the break as Wells scored their second try, for a half time score of 10-19.

The Second half started in the same way as the 1st, with both teams competing for every inch of ground in a hugely physical game. Frome's pack made some huge carriers around the breakdown to try and hammer down Wells' great defence.

Wells spun the ball wide in a last-ditch effort to save the game but massive tackles from Ben Freeman and Olly Merritt stopped Wells on this occasion.

Wells scored just before the final whistle to make the game 15-19. A good match, with a large Frome squad all getting the chance to perform.

Players of the Match were awarded to Dillon Harding and Harry Greenwood.
