The Frome RFC 3rd XV travelled to a sunny Bath on Saturday afternoon ready to take on hosts Avon RFC 2nds, in the first of their preseason warm up matches.

Frome travelled with a large squad which was full of experience, youth and a lot of players that hadn't played for almost 2 years. The side also welcomed a handful of players making their first Frome RFC debuts.

With the warm up fixture being split into 4 quarters, it was the home side who scored the first posits of the day following a lineout.

Frome hit back with brace of try's themselves from a set of well worked plays. A hugely entertaining game from both sides it was Frome who took control and scored a further 3 tries.

The points came from Miles Davis, Damon Ashmore, Kyle Williamson, Cory Plumridge and Gordon Grierson.

The pick of the bunch was a well worked try that saw the ball being kicked into space, with Plumridge racing to gather the ball and dot the ball down under the posts.

The home side continued to showcase some great rugby and were rewarded with two late try's before the final whistle.

Team Manager Simon Bates said: "A few special mentions must go to Gordon Grierson, Joe Wildman, Dean Marshall and Miles Davies for there hard work all over the pitch. The tackle of the day coming from young Billy Weeks, playing in his first game of rugby he but his body on the line to stop a try being scored in the corner. A big thank you to Ethan White for being Captain for the day and keeping things heading in the right direction on the pitch."

The Frome Third XV look forward to Saturday when they welcome Walcot RFC for the second of their preseason warm-up games.
