On a glorious Mothering Sunday, Wells RFC kicked off down the slope to Frome. The ball was caught well by Aelfric Bidder and Frome used the hands well to gain ground.

The away team would continue the pressure going up the pitch. Laurie White unleashed the backs, the ball was fed through centre pairing Toby Cassidy and Zach Sibbly. They put Harrie Webster over in the corner for their first try. 0-5 to the visitors.

Again Bidder would have another powerful run crashing into the Wells defence before passing to Oscar Stickley who again unleashed the poised backs, they would be stopped only meters from the hosts line.

A well worked line out to the visitors, saw a driving maul stopped short of the try line. Ewan Cox gathered the ball and crashed his way through for Frome's second try.

0-10.

The home side came to life with some big carries from their pack. Frome's defence was finally broken on the stroke of half time, with the score well balanced at 5-10.

The second half was set to be a good one, with the game now on a knife edge.

It was again, Wells picking up where they left off from, to have a push over try only five minutes into the second half. The conversion was added, for a 12 - 10 lead.

The game would ebb and flow for the next ten minutes with both sides trying to control the break down. But it would be the hosts that would score on the thirteen minute mark of the second half. To extend their lead y another five points.

Frome once again sprang into life with forwards started to take control Webster would fed Cassidy, who went over the white wash for Frome's third try, the score was well poised at 17-15.

We didn't have to wait long before Frome would entertain again when Alfie Newbery would run and draw the defence before passing to Sibley, who ran towards the corner, he then unleashed the rapid Josh Clarke who scored under the posts. Harry Greenwood added the extras.

Wells dug deep from the restart, regaining the ball and marching up the pitch, it would take a brave tackle from Dillon Harding to stop Wells from scoring in the corner. Unfortunately this would be the end of Harding's game, as he sustained an injury.

A penalty on the five metre line saw Wells crash over for their forth and final try.

The game would finish 22-22, a fair result, with neither team deserving to lose.

Players of the Match was jointly awarded to Harrie Webster and Josh Clarke, a fine performance by both.
