Hotter than Havana at the Frome Town FC ground today as The Robins turn up the heat right until the final moments

The first league match of the season and a hugely respectable crowd of over 350 fans watched The Robins tackle Evesham United in soaring heat.

Extra water breaks and some very tired players saw some unsurprisingly slowed up pace, and a few bad-tempered tackles, but Frome Town FC did not let up.

In the 90' minute and much to the joy of the crowd, George Rigg gave the hill what it wanted all afternoon.

Sighs of relief and euphoria from the fans as the midfielder guided in Ben Starr's cross from the left (1-0) .

It was a well deserved start to the season, and with a broken PA system, gave the crowd something to sing about on the way home.

Next match Tuesday evening when the temperatures should be cooler, but the pace just as hot with this ambitious Frome side. Kick off at 19:45 against Willand Rovers.
