The Frome RFC 2nd xV welcomed local rivals Warminster RFC 1st XV to 'The Lane' on Saturday desperate to put together a complete performance following some close fixtures.

The first half kicked off and the visitors moved across the pitch and gained an early line out, attacking the blindside they found the home side asleep and crossed the line with only 2mins gone.

Frome were next on the scoresheet when Scrum Half Lloyd Penny kicked over the top into space, with Cente Ethan White and Winger Rich Trott giving chase forcing the turn over and Flanker Matt Smith arriving in support to crash over to score.

This spurred the homeside on, with Fly Half Ben Eley running the game and the Forwards and Backs working well.

A break down the wing by Kyle Williamson saw him offload out of a tackle for Full Back John Spencer to cross over for a try.

Frome were attacking well with Micheal Duppa-Miller carrying well. Flanker Smith found a gap in the defence from the visitors 10 metre line and ran clear of the defence with just the Full Back to beat, stepping his way around him to score under the post. Eley converted the kick.

The attack Was ramped you another gear with great running from the Front Row of George Benstead, Christophe Giraud and Dan Chaventre.

Half Time Score:

Frome RFC 17 - 5 Warminster RFC

The second half saw the replacements come on, Phil Meenan on for Mark Regler, Dom Granville on for Dan Chaventre.

Frome started where they left off, and a quick tap penalty from Phil Meenan fed Centre Garrie Webster who found the gap to pass to Winger Williamson who scored in the corner. Eley then kicked an amazing effort from the touch line.

Unfortunately this was Webster's last say in the match picking up an injury and he made way for senior debutant Bailey Rusz.

Giraud made a great break and was tackled just shy of the line, Captain Owen Davis was in hand to support and came close to scoring.

The pressure mounted up and in an attempt to clear their lines Warminster's Fly Half miss kicked a clearance kick which was gathered up well by Williamson and scored his second try in the corner. Eley again made the difficult kick from the touch line.

Warminster attempted to get a hold in the game and tried to move the ball out wide but some great defence from the Frome Backline, saw a spilt ball which Spencer kicked a ahead, Winger Rusz picked up and ran it in for his first senior try. Eley kicked the extras.

On 60 mins, the ball went wide and Trott now playing at Centre was put through and stood up the full back to go over for the try.

Frome scores shortly after mins when Scrum Half Penny spotted a gap in the defence and sniped in under the post for a classic scrum half try. Eley converted.

From the kick off Frome attacked well with the ball going wide again, Winger Rusz showed his speed and agility to go around his opposite number and score in the corner for his second.

On 72nd minute Frome again we're in the Warminster twenty two, and with the ball falling loose Rusz pounced on the mistake scoring his hat trick of tries.

Warminster continued to threaten and from an interception in the midfield ran in a converted try.

From the kick off Frome quickly regained possession and attacked down the blindside feeding Rusz who finished well scoring his fourth try.

Final Score:

Frome RFC II 67 - 12 Warminster RFC

The Frome RFC II Man of the Match, sponsored by The Old Bath Arms, Frome went to Lloyd Penny.
