Frome Town FC played a decent game at home against Weston-Super-Mare AFC, although still in their old kit, still waiting for the new strip to arrive.

That should, the team hope, be in time for their opener in the league, in two weeks time.

Meantime, over three hundred watched as The Robins tried to pull the game back following a first half penalty to the visitors. The team is clearly settling into a new squad with a few new faces up at the hill, Caleb Summerfield originally from the South West, has recently moved to Wiltshire and has joined Frome, alongside Thomas Duffin, who is US-born but holds dual British citizenship, has recently moved to the UK.

There was also a notable absence, super speedy defender Jack Witcombe who has, sadly, due to work commitments, taken the decision to leave.

Danny Greaves says "I am disappointed to lose Jack. We were pleased to bring him back last season, and he played the majority of games in our rise in form which led us very close to the playoffs, only missing out on the final day.

"Being a local boy, you knew how much it meant. He never gave less than 100%. We will keep hold of his registration, and if circumstances change in his life in the next few months we will welcome him back."

"In the meantime, he has been honest and you may see his name crop up lower down the pyramid where the demands are less".

In what the team media called ; "A brave fight and promising performance, but ultimately a loss," the final score was one nil to the Weston side, who said they were pleased to have a positive start to the pre-season.

But earlier this week it was positive too from Frome, who scored three late goals to grab their first pre-season win at Badgers Hill in a competitive friendly against FC Bristol.

And as captain Sam Teale talks about in this team video, this year the squad is aiming for nothing less than a league win, hoping to put the unlucky injury streaks that dogged them last season behind them.
