Turns out nice and lucky for Frome Town Women

It was six of the best when Frome Town Women took on a depleted Swindon side at their first home game of the season at Badgers Hill.

Plenty of mud, plenty of action as the players outpaced and outplayed Swindon Supermarine in the South West League.

A smasher of a goal at nine minutes into the match (which started early to make the most of the sunshine) came from Enna Christmas and the game really opened up. After a scuffle of a tackle, a penalty by Freya Mist took the home side to two nil.

Frome were happy to have the score line for half time, but when they came back, and with Swindon another player down, they were pushing for more.

Another goal from captain Stefanie Isaacson left fans asking:" Who wants the next one?"

The answer - Ella McGregor , who had until then played goal maker, running a clean and technical impressive line to pass forward to the team - but decided, to the delight of fans, to shoot herself. Minutes later the tally was added to by Mary Bryant who had only just been substituted on.

Light drizzle with those final moments of sunshine, gave Frome a nice little rainbow over the goal and if this was a sign, then Keira-Leigh Underhill counted on her luck to score a final and sixth goal.

Full credit due to Swindon's Supermarines for travelling with just ten players and for some pretty good saves.

Definitely worth braving the falling temperatures and darkening skies, and while the performance may not have been to everyone's liking, the ladies showed that they are starting the New Year as they mean to go on.

See for yourself, the team really wants some extra supporters on side, with every cheer helping propel them forward under their new name.

Their next match, next Sunday against a second Swindon side, kick off at 2pm.

Final score: Frome Town Women 6 : Swindon Supermarines nil.
