A welcome break in the recent weather saw the team of Royal Wootton Bassett RFC U16s visit Frome.
In a changed line-up, Frome took to the field under the captaincy of Kieran Stacey.
Bassett started strongly, keeping Frome firmly in their own half.
The home team soaked this pressure up, and after hesitation from both sides, Harry Greenwood took the initiative to grubber loose ball, towards the try line.
Confusion in the Bassett defence followed, allowing Rob Norris to drive forward and claim a well taken try for Frome, with Greenwood taking care of the conversion.
Now was the time for Bassett to respond, securing a try and conversion to level the match at 7 - 7.
Frome's Laurie White was relishing his role at scrum half, releasing the ball quickly and confidently, allowing the home side to attack the opposition's line.
Strong line-outs from Frome followed, only for Norris to be denied his second try. This pressure continued, with the half finishing 7 - 7.
If Bassett tipped the scales in a very close first half, the second was one owned by Frome.
Introductions Oscar Stickley, Toby Cassidy, Harrie Webster, Alfie Newbery and Sonnie Kerslake arrived to bolster Frome's continued push for the win.
From the whistle, continued pressure allowed Archie Pearn to run in the try for Frome's second, the conversion was successful. The game was on now, and with more attacks, Frome sensed the win.
Sibley claimed the third try for the home side following some quick thinking from Newbery, who was now playing at scrum half.
The visitors weren't finished yet, though, and against the run of play, ran through to claim their second try, and ultimately, what would be their last points of the match.
What followed was simplicity at its best. Newbery quickly passed to Pearn, whose foresight to kick to the wing allowed Sibley to collect, claiming his second and Frome's forth try. It was a wonderful combined try from these three players.
Bassett seemed rattled by the home side's dominance and confusion within their own side, allowing Bidder to pounce. Frome now had a firm hold on the game, stretching their lead to 17 points.
The Grand Finale was to come in the closing minutes.
Pearn intercepted the ball deep in his own half, only to run the length of the pitch to claim his second and possibly the best try of the game. With the conversion once again secured by the reliable kicking of Greenwood, the match ended with a resounding win for Frome, winning 38 - 14 against a well organised Bassett team.
