Report by Head Coach, Dominic Jones
Frome RFC were back in league action at the weekend and on home turf to face a tough, physical and abrasive Dorchester side.
Frome started well by moving the ball and keeping a high tempo. This started to open holes in the Dorchester defence, which led to Frome's first try of the day, when after some good phases from one side of the pitch to the other, Fly Half, Darrel Thompson found a whole in the defence which he took, then created a 2v1 where he put Flanker, Eliki Bainimoli in under the posts.
From here on Dorchester did well to slow the game down and this then turned into a real physical encounter where defences were on top.
Discipline and unforced errors made it hard to for Frome to gain any attacking rhythm, and after conceding a penalty try, Frome were effectively down to 14 men for the remainder of the game.
This meant the Players had to dig in and work hard. Their character, defensive commitment and attitude allowed the home side to stay on top, and with patience, began to get time with the ball in hand, and began to re-establish momentum and pressure.
The home-sides resilience and the pressure that was put on Dorchester soon led to another well worked try for Centre, Cory Plumbridge which ultimately saw off the game.
Head Coach, Dom Jones commented "This was not an open flowing game, but a game for the purists, where physicality, structure, attitude and decisions in the right areas got us over the finish line."

Player of the Match was awarded to No.8 Alex Mallon
There's a gap in league fixture this coming weekend as the side prepare for their away fixture to Weymouth & Portland RFC.
