If you heard sirens in the early afternoon, a fire crew from Frome joined an engine from Shepton Mallet at a blaze in Kilmersdon.

There were multiple reports of a vehicle fire in the famed village which is believed to have given its name to the children's rhyme Jack and Jill.

On arrival crews confirmed that the vehicle was well alight and got to work with two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one thermal image camera.

The crews successfully extinguished the fire and the cause is understood to be accidental.
