People living in and visiting Bath now have the opportunity to go back in time and experience a part of its history - thanks to a Frome company.

The city, known for its Roman roots and Georgian influences, played a pivotal role in the development of Britain's Regency era – during the first part of the 19th century.

The period from 1795 to 1837, which includes the latter part of George III's reign and the reigns of his sons George IV and William IV, is regarded as the Regency era, characterised by distinctive trends in British architecture, literature, fashions, politics, and culture. During this time Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen was published, Mary Shelly wrote Frankenstein, Charles Dickens was born, there was a notable development in fashion and gas lighting was introduced in London's streets.

For many, the Regency period represents huge changes and modernisation in British culture and lifestyle.

And now, thanks to one Frome local business, people can go back in time and experience what 'a day in the life of' might have felt like.

Bath Theatrical Costume Hire, which has been providing costumes for private parties, events and theatre performances, for over 50 years, has collaborated with Marc Aitken, a renowed London Fashion week photographer, to launch The Regency Experience.

Managing Director, Rusette Auton, said: "Bath played an important role in Britain's Regency era some 200 years ago. Many visitors come to Bath to see the Jane Austen Museum, the Costume Museum and to be amazed by the city's beautiful architecture and Roman Baths.

"Now, thanks to our new Regency Experience, Bath's past can come alive and you can partake in the grandeur and elegance of the period! There's nothing quite like promenading through the City and parks in full costume."

The full day experience starts where the guests are transported to Bath Theatrical's wardrobe, taken backstage and are given a full make over by a team of specialist professionals. Once they have been turned into 'stars' and completed a photo session in Bath Theatricals new Studio 2, they're chauffeured back to Bath where they enjoy high tea and receive the five star treatment appropriate to their new celebrity status.

All day the guests are pampered by the team of professionals, making sure they look their absolute best for each photo opportunity. The guests then have access to all their photos to do with as they please.

"TV series' like Bridgerton have sparked a new interest in Bath and the Regency era. Bath Theatrical is pleased to able make that interest even more enjoyable." added Rusette.
