Fire Control received calls reporting a large hay bale which had tipped into the road, causing damage to a street lamp which had its wires exposed and was smoking and smouldering in the heat.
A Fire Engine from Frome was quickly mobilised to the incident, upon arrival they requested a make pumps two for crew safety, and a second Fire Engine from Frome was mobilised to assist.
Crews confirmed that a trailer carrying approximately 30 hay bales had toppled over and landed on a street lamp which was sparking. Fire Fighters managed traffic at the scene whilst they awaited for the street light company to attend and isolate the street light. Crews then used a tractor to remove the tractor, trailer and hay bales from the highway.
The A361 was reported as being now open at 20:37hrs, with one lane remaining closed for lamppost inspection.
These are the final details on this incident.
