The ancients recognised the therapeutic value of flax seed, oil from its seed, rich in omega 3, have many nutritional and industrial uses.

As clothing, in industry and for food, flax is playing an increasing role in the present day quest for natural sustainable living.

Flowering blue fields of flax not only look most beautiful, they live up to a translation of their Latin name, 'line most useful', Linum Usitatissimum.

This talk by Simon from Flaxland UK will cover:

  • How we became flax growers
  • The maritime and fishing heritage
  • History of flax growing and production
  • Challenges and rewards of returning to natural fibres
  • Present state of flax growing in UK and worldwide
  • Nutritional, industrial and new uses of flax based products.

There will be time for questions too!
