Why hypnobirthing?
Hypnobirthing is a childbirth preparation method that uses self-hypnosis, deep relaxation, and breathing techniques to manage pain and fear during labour and delivery.
The idea is that by managing levels of stress hormones, you can give yourself the best chance of allowing the body's in-built system to set you up for a good birth. Techniques are simple and adaptable to different people and different birth situations, you don't need to have any particular skills, knowledge or experience already.
Taught by Emilie, a doula, antenatal and yoga teacher with over 15 years experience of working with birthing families. Through this course, we'll explore how the mind and body work together in ways that help you understand what's happening when and why. You'll get practical experience of a range of tools that can be used at different stages of labour, plus access to a bank of resources that you can use to explore and deepen your learning at home.
How this works
As well as coming to the weekend sessions, you will get access to recordings to practice at home - which is where you can really embed the practices in preparation for meeting you baby. Learning deep relaxation tools is like learning anything, it gets easier with practice. The techniques are adaptable to different planned (and unplanned) situations as well as to help you stay calm while you adapt to life with your newborn baby.
