Volunteer Recruitment Day

East Somerset Railway, Cranmore Station, Nr Shepton Mallet

Sunday 9th March

Volunteer Recruitment Day

If you are looking for a new challenge, mark your calendar for March 9th and join us at the East Somerset Railway's Volunteer Recruitment Day.

This event is an excellent opportunity to explore the diverse and exciting volunteering roles we have to offer.

Do you enjoy engaging with the public? We have a range of positions available, including roles as a Guard, Travelling Ticket Inspector, Platform 'Meet and Greet' member, as well as Shop and Ticket Office Assistant. For those who prefer a more hands-on experience, you can work in a workshop setting helping to restore our locomotives, vintage carriages, or even the Signal Box. There are also opportunities for maintaining our station buildings, grounds, and train tracks.

We offer flexible time commitments and provide full training to all our volunteers. The day will commence at 10:30 AM in the historic old Waiting Room, followed by an enjoyable ride on a steam train. Attendees will then have the chance to tour the site, meet different teams, and learn about the available roles.

The East Somerset Railway, established by renowned wildlife artist David Shepherd in 1974, stands as a prominent tourist attraction. It offers nostalgic day trips at a Victorian railway station, with the unique experience of traveling behind a steam engine through the picturesque Somerset countryside.
